The North East Bus Preservation Trust is restoring a 1953 Beadle bodied AEC Regal, ex Northern General fleet no.1483 (DCN 83).
The vehicle was rescued from the legendary Percy Voakes’ scrapyard at Adversane, West Sussex in 1982, and we have only now started the restoration. Before we found the vehicle, some items were taken off it, the main items being the windows complete with sliders. These windows slant backwards, and are fitted in an aluminium frame which is proving impossible to replicate today. We did manage to acquire a set of windows and sliders from the Dover Transport Museum, but we do not have the aluminium inserts into which the window glass fits.
If anyone has spare aluminium frames, or can advise where we could buy the section, please get in touch
